Shower tray repair in Ford without replacing anything

Stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays can all be repaired, or resurface the whole tray if it’s worn. Nothing is taken out, so the screen and tiling stay as they are. Our technicians work on acrylic, cast iron and enamelled steel, and the jobs we see most are chips caused during fitting and scratches from cleaning or grit.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so a firm base is essential. We repair cracks and scratches.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black

Avoid abrasive pads and strong descalers. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can damage the floor below.

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Ceramic
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel

Why repair rather than replace?

A new tray can be cheap, but fitting it isn’t: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. Repairing it takes one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why Ford clients choose us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Everything repaired in place

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we’re called out for in Ford

Dull and stained trays are normally down to cleaning: limescale, harsh chemicals and abrasive pads strip the surface finish.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • A tray that creaks or moves underfoot
  • A crack across the base
  • Staining and dullness across the tray
  • Snagging damage in a new bathroom

Before you book anyone

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work
  • When it can be used again

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. We leave the room clean.

  1. We ensure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is generally usable the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
