Trusted shower tray repair in Freehold

Shower tray repair in Freehold without replacing anything

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. The tray stays in place, so the screen and tiling stay as they are. Typical jobs include staining and dullness across the tray and a tray that flexes, in stone resin, cast iron and acrylic.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Freehold as everywhere else we work.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Why repair rather than replace?

The tray is generally the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. A repair keeps everything as it is. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

FAQs for Freehold

Do you do work for letting agents?

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Landlord and trade work in Freehold

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Freehold as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Oldham and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

What shower tray repair costs

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Ventilate the room after showers

Rinse the tray after use, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water cannot get underneath.

Do not keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, where it causes damage you can’t see.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Leaking waste fittings

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
