Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Great Stainton questions

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How much does shower tray repair cost in Great Stainton?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

How long before I can shower?

We will give you the curing time on the day, normally the next day.

Are there extra charges for Great Stainton?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

What affects the price in Great Stainton

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Great Stainton. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tray usually means removing the screen and tiling, relaying the base and tiling again. Repairing or resurfacing the tray keeps all of that in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf

Check the silicone around the tray every few months, and replace it when it splits or goes black.

Do not keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, and the damage below isn’t visible.

Repairs by material

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so a firm base is essential. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole shower tray, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
