About our shower tray repair in Green Lane

Most tray damage can be repaired in place, from a chip by the waste to a crack across the base. We match the colour and finish so the repair blends in. We regularly repair acrylic, cast iron and enamelled steel, and people most frequently call us about snagging damage in a new bathroom and damage around the waste.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Green Lane: your questions answered

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you cover the entire of Warwickshire?

Everywhere in the UK, Green Lane included. Travel is included in the price.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you cover Green Lane?

We do. We send a technician to Green Lane for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can a cracked shower tray be repaired?

Normally, as long as it doesn’t flex. We reinforce the crack, fill it and refinish the surface.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so a firm base is essential. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Replace failing sealant promptly
  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated

Avoid abrasive pads and strong descalers. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Do you need shower tray repair in Green Lane?

Stone resin trays are rigid, so they crack rather than bend if the floor beneath them isn’t flat and fully supported. Timber floors that move can cause it too.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Scratches in the surface
  • A damaged area around the waste
  • Cracks running from the waste

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work
  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tray usually means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. Repairing it avoids all of that and costs far less. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Work done at your home or business

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the entire tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. The repair is colour matched, or the whole tray gets a new finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, you can use the shower.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
