About our shower tray repair in Hilton

In most cases, a damaged tray can be repaired where it is, from a chip by the waste to a crack across the base. The colour and finish are matched. If you are dealing with scratches from cleaning or grit and movement when you stand on it, we can normally put it right, on acrylic, stone resin and cast iron alike.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

The tray itself may not cost much, but the work around it does: removing the screen, breaking out tiles, relaying the base and re-tiling. A repair is one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Hilton customers choose us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What shower tray repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

What we are called out for in Hilton

Trays fitted on timber floors can crack if the floor moves, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks normally point to an uneven base.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Cracks running from the waste
  • Staining and dullness across the tray
  • Chips caused during fitting

Comparing quotes

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How to care for the finish
  • Who will actually do the work

What your shower tray is made of matters

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so a firm base is essential. We repair cracks and scratches.

What a repair can’t fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic
  • Cast iron

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We make sure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. The repair is colour-matched, or the whole tray gets a new finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, you can use the shower.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Questions from Hilton

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Can you quote from pictures?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Is a cracked shower tray safe to use?

It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, in case water is getting through.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Cambridgeshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Hilton use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
