Shower tray repair near Ifold

About our shower tray repair in Ifold

You don’t always need a new tray. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. We’re often asked to fix a tray that looks tired however much you clean it and a tray that flexes, on acrylic, stone resin and cast iron.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Before and after: an old shower tray refinished by Surface Doctor

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour matched and finished.
  5. It’s left to cure, generally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire shower tray, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Advice

Should you replace it?

A new shower tray normally involves taking out the enclosure and tiles, relaying the base and tiling again. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Ifold

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No extra charge for your area

What shower tray repair costs

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic

Different materials, different repairs

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. They crack if the base is not fully supported, and chips can be filled and matched.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Ifold as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Will the price change on the day?

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Rinse away soap after showering
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water cannot get underneath.

Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water may be getting under the tray, and the damage below isn’t visible.
