Shower tray repair at your home in Keyhead

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. Nothing is taken out, so the screen and tiling stay as they are. Our technicians work on stone resin, ceramic and enamelled steel, and common reasons people get in touch are a tray that flexes and cracks running from the waste.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes
  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water cannot get underneath.

Act on split sealant early. Water gets behind and under the tray and can damage the floor below.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Plumbing leaks under the tray

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron
  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic
  • Stone resin

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when you can shower.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Different materials, different repairs

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so it’s worth repairing early.

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Repairing versus replacing in Keyhead

Replacing a tray normally means taking out the enclosure and tiles, preparing a new base and re-tiling. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
