DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Shower tray repair at your home in Lind Head

You don’t always need a new tray. If it’s solid underneath, it can normally be repaired in place, saving you the cost and mess of a new one. We are frequently asked to fix a tray that flexes and a damaged area around the waste, in cast iron, enamelled steel and acrylic.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Lind Head and across North Yorkshire.

How we price shower tray repair

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send photos for a quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the shower tray, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Should you replace it?

The tray is usually the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. Repairing it avoids that disruption. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What we are called out for in Lind Head

Stone resin trays are rigid, so they crack rather than bend when they sit on an uneven or poorly supported floor. Movement in a timber floor has the same effect.

The things customers normally mention when they call include:

  • A damaged area around the waste
  • Cracks running from the waste
  • Edge chips from dropped bottles
  • Chips caused during fitting

Before you book anyone

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How to look after the finish
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • When it can be used again

Choosing a repair company

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so good support matters. We repair cracks and scratches.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are rigid and slim. A flat, solid base is essential, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.

Common questions in Lind Head

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can a cracked shower tray be repaired?

Frequently. A tray that moves needs its support sorting before the repair.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do you redo the sealant?

We can. It’s a good time to replace old sealant.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can you make an old tray look new?

Yes. A full resurface makes a tired tray look fresh.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • A tray that moves underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. We reinforce any crack and fill the damage.
  4. We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Related advice

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach
  • Rinse the tray after each shower

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

A small crack lets in a little water every time you shower, and over months that can rot the floor. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.
