About our shower tray repair in Little Paxton

Most tray damage can be repaired in place, from chipped edges to cracks across the floor of the tray. We match the colour and finish. We’re frequently asked to fix a damaged area around the waste and cracks running from the waste, on acrylic, enamelled steel and cast iron.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How the visit works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is usually usable the day after.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Little Paxton questions

Do you redo the sealant?

Yes. Add it to your quote and we’ll do both on one visit.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

How long before I can shower?

Normally the following day. We’ll confirm before we leave.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can a stained tray be refinished?

Yes. The whole tray can be resurfaced.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

What does shower tray repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • A tray broken in more than one place

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Enamelled steel
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Cast iron
  • Acrylic

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tray normally involves taking out the enclosure and tiles, preparing a new base and tiling again. A repair or resurface keeps all of that in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

What your shower tray is made of matters

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Rinse the tray after use, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water can’t get underneath.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.
