Repairing versus replacing in Lower Peover

Replacing a tray normally involves removing the screen and tiling, preparing a new base and re-tiling. Repairing or resurfacing the tray keeps all of that in place. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

Questions from Lower Peover

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of Cheshire East. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you redo the sealant?

Yes, if you’d like us to. After a repair is a good time to reseal.

Do you cover Lower Peover?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Lower Peover. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What a repair can’t fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • Leaking waste fittings

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Lower Peover

  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. The repair is colour matched, or the entire tray gets a new finish.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is typically usable the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the shower tray, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are rigid and slim. They need a flat, solid base, and we match repairs to the surface finish.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid do the job.

Do not keep using a cracked tray. Water can get through to the floor and walls, and the damage below isn’t visible.
