Shower tray repair for Normandy homes

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Shower tray repair in Normandy without replacing anything

You do not always need a new tray. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. Whether it’s staining and dullness across the tray and chips or cracks by the plughole, we can typically put it right.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Normandy and the surrounding area

Normandy is about 4 miles east of Aldershot, in Surrey. We work in every kind of home, from flats and terraces to detached houses and new builds, as well as offices, shops and holiday lets. We work in 395 places in Surrey, from the larger towns to small villages. We work right across the region, from Normandy to London (about 30 miles away).

If you are just outside Normandy, we cover Willey Green (1 mile east), Flexford (1 mile south), Christmas Pie (1 mile south), Wyke (1 mile west) and Wanborough (2 miles south). For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Normandy questions

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you make an old tray look new?

Yes, it’s a common job. A full resurface makes a tired tray look fresh.

Do you redo the sealant?

We can. After a repair is a good time to reseal.

Do you cover Normandy?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Normandy for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can I keep using a cracked tray?

Only if you are sure it is not leaking. Check the ceiling below for damp.

Can you fix a cracked tray?

Often. A tray that moves needs its support sorting before the repair.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour-matched and finished.
  5. It’s left to cure, usually until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

What shower tray repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Normandy, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Cast iron

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Rinse away soap after showering
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes

Rinse the tray down after showering, clean with mild cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water cannot get underneath.

Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water may be getting under the tray, where it causes damage you cannot see.
