Shower tray repair in Odsal

Shower tray repair in Odsal, done in place

A cracked or chipped shower tray does not always need replacing. If it’s solid underneath, it can usually be repaired in place, which is far less work than a replacement. We regularly repair acrylic, enamelled steel and stone resin, and people most frequently call us about chips on the edges and scratches in the surface.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when you can shower.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so good support matters. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so early repairs help.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray broken in more than one place

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Odsal

  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tray generally means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. Repairing it avoids all of that, at a fraction of the cost. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • No extra charge for your area
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Replace failing sealant promptly
  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Do you need shower tray repair in Odsal?

Most cracked trays are trays that flex: without a solid, level base underneath, it flexes each time someone stands on it. Chips normally come from dropped bottles.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A cracked shower tray
  • Snagging damage in a new bathroom
  • A dull, stained or worn surface
  • A tray that flexes
