Book shower tray repair in Ogden

Shower tray repair at your home in Ogden

We check the tray before repairing it: a tray that moves needs its support sorted first, or the crack will come back. We’ll explain what we find. We regularly repair cast iron, stone resin and enamelled steel, and people most frequently call us about a dull, stained or worn surface and edge chips from dropped bottles.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We ensure the tray doesn’t flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the whole tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

When we would advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Common questions in Ogden

Do you cover Ogden?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Ogden and the rest of Calderdale. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of Calderdale. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

When can I use the shower again?

Usually the next day. We’ll tell you the exact time when we finish.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tray normally means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. A repair leaves all of that untouched, at a fraction of the cost. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Ogden

  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Everything repaired in place

Read our pricing.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

If you manage property in Ogden, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Report any creaking or movement early

Rinse the tray after use, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. It lets water behind the tray and can cause damage underneath.

What we’re called out for in Ogden

Cracks often start at the waste, because that is where the tray is weakest and the fitting puts pressure on it.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Snagging damage in a new bathroom
  • Scuffs and light scratches
  • A cracked shower tray
  • A damaged area around the waste

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Ogden

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire shower tray
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Ogden, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
