Shower tray repair for Pentir homes

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tray generally means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. Repairing it avoids all of that and costs far less. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Pentir. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why Pentir clients choose us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Shower tray repair in Pentir, done in place

The first thing we do is check the tray: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, otherwise any crack returns. We will tell you if that is the case. We work on ceramic, enamelled steel and acrylic, and people most often call us about a damaged area around the waste and damage from a refit or building work.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Before and after: an old shower tray refinished by Surface Doctor

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We check the tray is firmly supported and find the cause of any crack.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. The repair is colour matched, or the whole tray gets a new finish.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can typically be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Different materials, different repairs

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach

Rinse the tray down after showering, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

A tray that moves underfoot needs looking at, before it cracks.

Questions from Pentir

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole shower tray and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do you cover Pentir?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Pentir from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Landlord and trade work in Pentir

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Pentir as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from pictures

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we are called out for in Pentir

On timber floors, movement can crack a tray, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks typically point to an uneven base.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A tray that looks tired however much you clean it
  • A tray that creaks or moves underfoot
  • Chips caused during fitting
  • A crack across the base
