Shower tray repair near Royston

About our shower tray repair in Royston

The first thing we do is check the tray: a tray that moves needs its support sorted first, or the crack will come back. We’ll explain what we find. We are often asked to fix chips caused during fitting and a crack across the base, in stone resin, acrylic and cast iron.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new shower tray frequently means a new enclosure fitting, new tiling and new sealant. A repair leaves all of that untouched and costs far less. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated

Check the silicone around the tray every few months, and replace it when it splits or goes black.

A small crack lets in a little water every time you shower, which can damage the floor over time. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is generally usable the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

What your shower tray is made of matters

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. They crack if the base is not fully supported, and chips can be filled and matched.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so a firm base is essential. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

When to call us in Royston

Trays crack mainly because they move: without a solid, level base underneath, it flexes each time someone stands on it. Dropped bottles cause most chips.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A cracked shower tray
  • Chips caused during fitting
  • Damage around the waste
  • Chips on the edges

What your quote should include

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • When it can be used again
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
