Shower tray repair in Scholes

How we price shower tray repair

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Scholes. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. Try to include:

  • One picture of the whole shower tray
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

About our shower tray repair in Scholes

In most cases, a damaged tray can be repaired where it is, from a chip by the waste to a crack across the base. The colour and finish are matched so the repair blends in. We regularly repair stone resin, ceramic and enamelled steel, and people most often call us about chips on the edges and cracks running from the waste.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so a firm base is essential. We repair cracks and scratches.

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Questions from Scholes

Can a stained tray be refinished?

Yes. The entire tray can be resurfaced without removing it.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

How long does it take to cure?

We will give you the curing time on the day.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Repair or replace in Scholes?

The tray is typically the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. Repairing it avoids that disruption. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner
  • Report any creaking or movement early

Keep heavy bottles off the tray floor, to avoid chips.

A small crack lets in a little water every time you shower, which can damage the floor over time. Getting it repaired quickly is much cheaper than fixing a floor.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
