Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Replace failing sealant promptly
  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Report any creaking or movement early

Rinse the tray down after showering, clean with mild cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water can’t get underneath.

Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water can get through to the floor and walls, where it causes damage you can’t see.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Ceramic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. We reinforce any crack and fill the damage.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour-matched and finished.
  5. It’s left to cure, typically until the day after.

Choosing a repair company

Your questions about shower tray repair in Southsea

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, because water may be getting underneath.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

What does shower tray repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How long before I can shower?

You will get the exact time when we finish, normally the following day.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Do you redo the sealant?

Yes. We can repair and reseal on the same visit.

Different materials, different repairs

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Repair or replace in Southsea?

A new shower tray normally involves taking out the enclosure and tiles, relaying the base and re-tiling. Repairing or resurfacing the tray leaves all of that alone. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us
