Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so a firm base is essential. We repair cracks and scratches.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

When we’d advise against a repair

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • A tray that moves underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic

Repair or replace in Stockton?

The tray itself may not cost much, but the work around it does: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. Repairing it takes one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.

Act on split sealant early. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Stockton questions

How do I get a price for shower tray repair in Stockton?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your TF11 postcode.

Can you make an old tray look new?

Yes. We can resurface the entire tray for a fresh finish without removing it.

Do you redo the sealant?

Yes. Add it to your quote and we will do both on one visit.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time on the day.

Can I keep using a cracked tray?

Not until you know the crack is not letting water through. Check the ceiling below for damp.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the area is dry

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the shower tray, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
