Need shower tray repair in Trebarber?

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We ensure the tray doesn’t flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can generally be used the day after.

A cracked or chipped shower tray does not always need replacing. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. Common call-outs are for staining and dullness across the tray and damage around the waste, across stone resin, cast iron and ceramic.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Trebarber and across Cornwall.

FAQs for Trebarber

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Do you cover the entire of Cornwall?

Across the UK. Prices don’t change with location.

Do you reseal the tray as well?

Yes. Add it to your quote and we’ll do both on one visit.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new shower tray normally involves taking out the enclosure and tiles, relaying the base and tiling again. Repairing or resurfacing the tray keeps all of that in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach
  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Use the extractor fan

Wait the full curing time before you shower. After that, mild cleaners and good ventilation are all it needs.

Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

Different materials, different repairs

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. They crack if the base is not fully supported, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Exposed metal can rust, so it’s worth repairing early.
