Need shower tray repair in Wells-next-the-Sea?

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

About our shower tray repair in Wells-next-the-Sea

A cracked or chipped shower tray doesn’t always need replacing. If it’s solid underneath, it can normally be repaired in place, which is far less work than a replacement. Whether it’s damage from a refit or building work and chips or cracks by the plughole, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Wells-next-the-Sea questions

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time on the day.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

What does shower tray repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Wells-next-the-Sea.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

Repairs by material

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so good support matters. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

Repair or replace: which is better?

The tray itself may not cost much, but the work around it does: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. A repair is one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

What you get with us

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We make sure the tray doesn’t flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can generally be used the day after.

Related advice

What we can’t put right

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • A tray that moves underfoot
  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Ceramic
  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron

What shower tray repair costs

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Wells-next-the-Sea. What changes the price is:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole shower tray, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

How to look after the repair

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Get a moving tray checked

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can damage the floor below.
