Shower tray repair near West Kirby

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One picture of the whole shower tray
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Shower tray repair in West Kirby, done in place

Every crack has a cause, and we find it first. A tray that moves needs its support sorting first, so the crack does not come back. Typical jobs include snagging damage in a new bathroom and scratches in the surface, across acrylic, enamelled steel and stone resin.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When to call us in West Kirby

Most cracked trays are trays that flex: without a solid, level base underneath, it flexes each time someone stands on it. Dropped bottles cause most chips.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • Snagging damage in a new bathroom
  • A tray that looks tired however much you clean it
  • Scratches in the surface
  • A tray that flexes

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What prep work is covered

How to compare quotes

Different materials, different repairs

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are popular because they’re rigid and low-profile. They need a flat, solid base, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so it’s worth repairing early.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tray usually means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. A repair leaves all of that untouched, at a fraction of the cost. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We ensure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is usually usable the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Make sure the area is dry

Common questions in West Kirby

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you work in West Kirby?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to West Kirby for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes
  • Stick to gentle cleaners

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water can’t get underneath.

If the tray creaks or moves, get it checked, before it cracks.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • Trays cracked in several places

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
