Shower tray repair in Willows Green

Shower tray repair in Willows Green without replacing anything

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces can all be put right without removing the tray. Typical jobs include a tray that flexes and staining and dullness across the tray, across acrylic, ceramic and cast iron.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Essex.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What shower tray repair costs

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the tray is solid and the crack hasn’t let water spread, repair is usually best. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Willows Green: your questions answered

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

Only if you’re sure it isn’t leaking. Look for damp or stains below.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do you cover Willows Green?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Willows Green. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Can a cracked shower tray be repaired?

Frequently. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Give the tray a quick rinse after use
  • Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner
  • Do not ignore a tray that flexes

Keep an eye on the sealant, and replace it when it splits or goes black.

Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water may be getting under the tray, where it causes damage you can’t see.

When a repair is not the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Stone resin

What your shower tray is made of matters

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. Next we clean and prepare the tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is usually usable the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
