Sink repair in Bermuda without replacing anything

When a basin is worn or crazed all over, we can resurface it in place, giving it an even new finish. Our repair technicians work on vanity unit basins, Belfast and butler sinks and enamelled basins, and common reasons people get in touch are a chipped basin edge and fine cracks across the glaze.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Bermuda as everywhere else we work.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Bermuda

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Repairs by material

Period and antique

Older basins may have crazing, chips and makers’ marks. We repair them sympathetically and leave the character intact.

Vitreous china

Most basins are vitreous china with a hard, glossy glaze. The gloss is what makes a repair blend in, so we finish the repair to the same sheen.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

How to care for the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Steer clear of harsh chemicals
  • Get chips repaired early
  • Ask a plumber not to overtighten fittings
  • Avoid abrasive pads

Wipe the basin over after use, and avoid strong bleach or descalers.

Chips collect dirt and stain over time, so the sooner it’s repaired, the better.

How we price sink repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • One picture of the entire basin
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

When to call us in Bermuda

Basins are right where bottles and hair tools get dropped, from glass bottles to hairdryers. Fittings that are overtightened can also crack the ceramic.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Damage from dropped bottles or hair tools
  • A chipped vanity basin
  • A chipped basin edge
  • Fine cracks across the glaze

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What preparation is included

Choosing a repair company

When a repair isn’t the answer

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaks from the fittings
  • Crazing all over, which suits resurfacing
  • Through cracks that let water out

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Enamelled basins
  • Antique & period basins
  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins
  • Vanity unit basins
  • Belfast and butler sinks

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a couple of hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We clean the basin and check the damage.
  2. We fill the chip or crack and shape it to the original profile.
  3. The finish is matched to the glaze.
  4. We polish the repair to blend it in.
  5. The basin can usually be used later that day or the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, with your CV10 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
