Need sink repair in Marlow Bottom?

How we price sink repair

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Sink repair in Marlow Bottom without replacing anything

It’s not just the colour we match, it’s the gloss, because a dull patch on a shiny basin stands out. Repairs are polished to the same shine. Common call-outs are for a chipped vanity basin and a chipped basin edge, across Belfast and butler sinks, antique & period basins and ceramic & vitreous china basins.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Repairing versus replacing in Marlow Bottom

A new basin may mean new taps, a new waste and new tiling, and if it’s part of a suite, it may not match. Repairing it avoids those problems. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • No need to remove anything

Read our pricing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Marlow Bottom: your questions answered

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you need to take the basin off the wall?

No, it stays where it is. We protect the area around it and work in place.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First the basin is cleaned and the damage checked.
  2. The chip or crack is filled and shaped to match the basin.
  3. We mix the colour to suit the glaze.
  4. We polish it into the surrounding surface.
  5. The basin can normally be used later that day or the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole basin, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

What your basin is made of matters

Vitreous china

Ceramic basins have a fired, glassy surface. Repairs are polished to match that glaze.

Composite and resin

Cast mineral and resin basins are common in vanity units. They repair well, and the colour is mixed to suit.

Do you need sink repair in Marlow Bottom?

Fine crazing in the glaze is usually down to age, and harsh cleaners can make it worse.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Chips from dropped toiletries
  • Crazing in the glaze
  • A crack near the taps
  • An antique basin with chips

Comparing quotes

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Glaze crazing across the entire basin, where resurfacing is better
  • Through cracks that let water out
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Antique & period basins
  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins
  • Vanity unit basins
  • Enamelled basins
  • Belfast and butler sinks

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Use mild cleaners only
  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the edge
  • Get chips repaired early
  • Keep straighteners away from the basin

Keep hair straighteners and heavy bottles away from the basin edge, to avoid new chips.

Chips near the waste or taps can let water in. Repairing it early keeps the job small.
