What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A loose basin, until it’s refixed
  • Through cracks that let water out
  • Leaks from the fittings

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

  • Damage from dropped bottles or hair tools

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Store toiletries on a shelf
  • Repair chips before they stain
  • Do not overtighten taps
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

A quick wipe after use helps, and steer clear of harsh chemicals.

Chips near the waste or taps can let water in, which can stain the repair area. Early repair keeps it a small job.

How it works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a couple of hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The vanity, floor and taps are protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill it and shape it to the basin’s curve.
  4. The colour is matched by hand.
  5. We polish it to match the shine and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Open a window if you can

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What affects the price in Oxbridge

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Oxbridge. What changes the price is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the entire basin
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole basin, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

For anyone letting property in or around Oxbridge, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Repairing versus replacing in Oxbridge

Basins are frequently built into vanity units or tiled in, so replacing one disturbs more than you’d expect. Repairing it keeps everything as it is. Our sink repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
