Sink repair in Surrex without replacing anything

We repair chips, cracks and crazing in ceramic basins and vanity units, with the colour and shine matched to the basin. The basin stays on the wall. We’re frequently asked to fix chips on a built-in basin and a crack near the taps, across vanity unit basins, Belfast and butler sinks and ceramic & vitreous china basins.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Why repair rather than replace?

Finding the same basin again is not always possible, particularly if it matches the toilet and bath. A repair keeps your suite matching. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Vitreous china

Vitreous china is fired ceramic with a glassy glaze. We polish repairs to match the glaze.

Composite and resin

Cast mineral and resin basins are common in vanity units. They repair well, with colour mixed on site.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Surrex: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you keep the maker’s mark?

Yes, carefully. We repair them without hiding their character.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the area around the basin.
  2. The damage is cleaned and prepared.
  3. It’s filled and shaped to the basin.
  4. The colour is matched by hand.
  5. We polish it to match the shine and leave it to cure.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Fittings shouldn’t be over-tightened
  • Do not rest hot hair tools on the basin
  • Avoid strong bleach and descalers
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the edge

Keep hair straighteners and heavy bottles away from the basin edge, so it does not get chipped again.

A chip near the waste or taps can let water into the body of the basin. Repairing it early keeps the job small.

When to call us in Surrex

Basins take knocks every day: bottles, hair straighteners and razors chip the rim and front edge. Cracks frequently start around the taps and waste.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Cracks around the tap holes or waste
  • Chips from dropped toiletries
  • A chipped basin edge
  • A crazed, tired basin

Before booking anyone

  • How long it needs to cure
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Who will actually do the work
  • If travel is included in the price

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

If you manage property in Surrex, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

What we can’t put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A basin that moves on its brackets
  • A crack that leaks right through the basin

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
