Tile repair in Alfrick Pound

Should you replace it?

Swapping out a damaged tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

About our tile repair in Alfrick Pound

The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. Our technicians work on marble, porcelain tiles and natural stone & granite, and the jobs we see most are damaged tile edges and chips from dropped pans and tools.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How to compare quotes

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

Advice

What a repair cannot fix

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Porcelain tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble
  • Floor and wall tiles

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size
