Tile repair for Foul Anchor homes

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Marble
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Floor and wall tiles

About our tile repair in Foul Anchor

We repair the tile in place, so you do not need to find a spare. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. Whether it’s chips from dropped pans and tools and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cambridgeshire. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

10 questions to ask before you book

What affects the price in Foul Anchor

Repairs from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Most clients in Foul Anchor get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Questions from Foul Anchor

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, normally with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Open a window if you can
