Tile repair in Lizard

How we handle tile repair in Lizard

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will say so. The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. Whether it’s drill holes from removed fittings and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, we can help.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. Repairing it keeps the original tile. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Fixed prices from your photos

Lizard: your questions answered

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Can you fill holes left by old fittings?

Yes. We fill drill holes from removed fittings.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Cornwall.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What tile repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Lizard

  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles

The process

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
