Tile repair for Macmerry homes

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Porcelain tiles
  • Marble
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles

How we handle tile repair in Macmerry

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. We repair the tile in place, so you don’t need to find a spare. Typical jobs include drill holes from removed fittings and chips from dropped pans and tools, across ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles and natural stone & granite.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

How we price tile repair

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear the area around the damage

Ask for a price

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

  • Drill holes from removed fittings
  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Damaged tile edges

Our hiring checklist

Should you replace it?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
