Tile repair for Medlar homes

About our tile repair in Medlar

We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll say so. We are frequently asked to fix damaged tile edges and cracked floor tiles, on ceramic tiles, floor and wall tiles and natural stone & granite.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Porcelain tiles

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

How we price tile repair

Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Medlar. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Questions from Medlar

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What about drill holes in tiles?

Yes. We fill drill holes from removed fittings.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Are there extra charges for Medlar?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you repair a cracked floor tile without replacing it?

Generally, if it is not loose.

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
