How it works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will say so. The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. If you’re dealing with cracked floor tiles and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, we can help.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cornwall. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Pentire questions

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do you cover the whole of Cornwall?

We cover the whole UK, including Pentire and the rest of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Often, yes, if it is not loose.

Can you fill holes left by old fittings?

Yes. We fill drill holes from removed fittings.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A wider photo showing the whole tiled area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your TR7 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair keeps the original tile. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
