Trusted tile repair in Stansted

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair keeps the original tile. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why Stansted clients choose us

How we handle tile repair in Stansted

The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll say so. We regularly repair ceramic tiles, floor and wall tiles and marble, and the jobs we see most are cracked floor tiles and drill holes from removed fittings.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Kent. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What a repair cannot fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Ceramic tiles
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Marble
  • Floor and wall tiles

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
