Your questions about tile repair in The Quar

What areas do you cover?

All of Merthyr Tydfil, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you cover The Quar?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to The Quar from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Frequently, yes, if it is not loose.

Tile repair at your home in The Quar

The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will tell you. Our repair technicians work on marble, porcelain tiles and ceramic tiles, and common reasons people contact us are discontinued tiles you can’t replace and damaged tile edges.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to The Quar. The price depends on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole tiled area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Merthyr Tydfil and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Repair or replace in The Quar?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why choose Surface Doctor in The Quar

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Read our pricing.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
