How we handle tile repair in Tripwell
The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will tell you. Whether it’s discontinued tiles you can’t replace and damaged tile edges, we can help, on porcelain tiles, natural stone & granite and floor and wall tiles alike.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Tripwell and across the Shetland Islands. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- How hard the colour is to match
- The material and finish
- How easy the damage is to reach
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send pictures for a quote
We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Any details about the material
- Where you are, by postcode
- One sharp close-up of the damage
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
What else we do in Tripwell
Why repair rather than replace?
Swapping out a damaged tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

The process
We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
- The chip, crack or hole is filled.
- We shape the repair flush with the tile.
- We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
- The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking or access
- Clear the area around the damage
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

What we can’t put right
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
- Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
- Whole walls of failing grout
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

- Floor and wall tiles
- Marble
- Natural stone & granite
- Ceramic tiles
- Porcelain tiles
When to call us in Tripwell

The most common problems we’re called about are:
- Cracked floor tiles
- Discontinued tiles you can’t replace
- Chips from dropped pans and tools
- Drill holes from removed fittings
