Book tile repair in Wyken

Tile repair at your home in Wyken

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. We are often asked to fix cracked floor tiles and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, in porcelain tiles, marble and ceramic tiles.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What we are called out for in Wyken

Floor tiles chip when pans, tins and tools are dropped, and wall tiles get drilled for fittings that are later removed. Movement underneath can also crack tiles.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Damaged tile edges
  • Discontinued tiles you can’t replace
  • Chips from dropped pans and tools

Questions to ask before booking

  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How to care for the finish
  • How long it needs to cure

Our hiring checklist

Wyken: your questions answered

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What about drill holes in tiles?

Yes. Drill holes from old rails and shelves are a common job.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Often, yes, if it isn’t loose.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you cover the entire of Coventry?

We cover the entire UK, including Wyken and the rest of Coventry. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Wyken

  • Marble
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Porcelain tiles

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. Repairing it keeps the original tile. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Most customers in Wyken get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

How the visit works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
