Toilet chip repair in Coniston

Toilet chip repair in Coniston, done in place

Chips are rebuilt and colour-matched to the glaze, so you do not need a plumber or a new toilet. Leaking cracks need the toilet replacing, and we will tell you if that’s what we find. Whether it’s marks on the outside of the pan and damage from dropped items, we can help, on cisterns & lids, porcelain and pedestals alike.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book. Take care with heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

Coniston questions

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across East Riding of Yorkshire.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What do you need from me?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

What areas do you cover?

All of East Riding of Yorkshire, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed price

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Coniston, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Common problems we fix in Coniston

Toilets and cisterns typically get chipped during fitting, or from a dropped lid or bottle. Cistern lids get chipped surprisingly often.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Marks on the outside of the pan
  • Damage from dropped items
  • Chips on the pan or rim

What your quote should include

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Choosing a repair company

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Vitreous china
  • Porcelain
  • Toilet pans
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Pedestals

Should you replace it?

A new toilet needs a plumber and sometimes new flooring around the pan, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. Repairing the chip leaves it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take one to two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by cleaning and drying the damage.
  2. Next we rebuild the missing piece to its original shape.
  3. We sand the repair level.
  4. The glaze is colour-matched and finished.
  5. Finally we polish it into the surrounding glaze.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.
