Toilet chip repair for Falmer homes

Toilet chip repair in Falmer, done in place

Leaking cracks need the toilet replacing, and we will tell you if that’s what we find. Chips are rebuilt and colour-matched to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. We work on vitreous china, porcelain and cisterns & lids, and common reasons people get in touch are pieces knocked off during fitting and chips on the cistern lid.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Avoid dropping heavy items and clean the outside of the pan gently.

Falmer questions

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no obligation to book.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

What about a leaking crack?

No. A leaking crack needs the toilet replacing. We fix chips and broken pieces.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Toilet pans
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Porcelain
  • Vitreous china
  • Pedestals

Why repair rather than replace?

A new toilet means a plumber and sometimes new flooring around the pan, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. Repairing the chip leaves it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes one to two hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned and dried.
  2. Next we rebuild the missing piece to its original shape.
  3. We sand the repair level.
  4. The glaze is colour-matched and finished.
  5. The repair is polished so it blends in.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What affects the price in Falmer

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • One picture of the entire toilet
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size

Most customers in Falmer get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Common problems we fix in Falmer

Most toilet chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted, or when something heavy is dropped. Cistern lids get chipped surprisingly often.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Marks on the outside of the pan
  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Damage from dropped items
  • Chips on the cistern lid

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How the colour is matched
