Toilet chip repair in Little Scotland

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

About our toilet chip repair in Little Scotland

We rebuild the damaged area and match it to the glaze, so you don’t need a plumber or a new toilet. A crack that leaks cannot be fixed with a cosmetic repair, and we will tell you if that is what we find. Typical jobs include chips on the cistern lid and pieces knocked off during fitting, across vitreous china, cisterns & lids and porcelain.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Bolton. Take care with heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

Repairing versus replacing in Little Scotland

Replacing a toilet means a plumber and sometimes new flooring around the pan, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. Repairing the chip leaves it in place. Our toilet chip repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Little Scotland questions

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can you fix a cracked toilet that leaks?

No. That needs a new toilet. We fix chips and broken pieces.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes one to two hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We clean and dry the damaged area.
  2. Next we rebuild the missing piece to its original shape.
  3. We sand it flush.
  4. The glaze is colour-matched and finished.
  5. Finally we polish it into the surrounding glaze.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

What toilet chip repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • A wider photo showing the whole toilet
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your BL6 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

When we’d advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Toilet pans
  • Pedestals
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Vitreous china
  • Porcelain
