Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

How we handle toilet chip repair in Mardu

Chips are rebuilt and colour matched to the glaze, so you do not need a plumber or a new toilet. Leaking cracks need the toilet replacing, and we will say so if we find one. Whether it’s chips on the cistern lid and damage from dropped items, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee. Avoid dropping heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

Should you replace it?

A new toilet needs a plumber and possibly new flooring, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. A repair keeps the toilet you have. Our toilet chip repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Mardu. The price comes down to:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A wider photo showing the entire toilet
  • The material, if you know it
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Most customers in Mardu get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Questions from Mardu

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can you repair a chipped toilet?

Yes. Chips to the pan, rim, cistern and lid are the most common jobs.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Porcelain
  • Vitreous china
  • Pedestals
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Toilet pans

The process

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow an hour or two, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by cleaning and drying the damage.
  2. Missing material is filled and rebuilt to the original shape.
  3. We sand the repair level.
  4. The glaze is colour-matched and finished.
  5. Finally we polish it into the surrounding glaze.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Make sure the area is dry
