Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing the frame or sill is a much bigger job, and new uPVC may not match the weathered frames around it. A repair leaves the unit in place. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

10 questions to ask before you book

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Angle use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Failed or misted double glazing units
  • Broken locks, hinges or mechanisms
  • Frames that are warped or out of square

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Conservatory frames
  • Coloured and woodgrain uPVC
  • White uPVC
  • Doors & door panels
  • Window frames & sills

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We clean the frame or panel.
  2. Scratches, chips and holes are filled.
  3. We sand the repair smooth.
  4. We colour-match the finish, including woodgrain effects.
  5. We blend the repair into the surrounding surface.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

What uPVC repair costs

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire window, door or sill
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
