What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Failed or misted double glazing units
  • Broken locks, hinges or mechanisms
  • Frames that are warped or out of square

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Doors & door panels
  • Conservatory frames
  • Coloured and woodgrain uPVC
  • White uPVC
  • Window frames & sills

Why repair rather than replace?

A new window, door or sill is a much bigger job, and new uPVC may not match the weathered frames around it. Repairing the damage keeps the original. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • One visit for most repairs
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We leave the room as we found it

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First the frame or panel is cleaned.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We smooth the repair.
  4. We match the colour, including woodgrain finishes.
  5. The repair is blended into the surface around it.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What affects the price in Splatt

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash

Email us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Splatt, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Splatt: your questions answered

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you come to Splatt?

We do. We send a technician to Splatt for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

What information do you need?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
