Bath re-enamelling in Splatt

Bath re-enamelling in Splatt without replacing anything

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Common call-outs are for a bath in a colour that no longer suits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take the best part of a day.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

What a repair cannot fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Cornwall and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Splatt. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
