Materials and what they mean for the repair
Wood
Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, with burns and dents put right.
Laminate
Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. We fill the damage and recreate the pattern by hand.
Worktop repair at your home in Aberdeen
We repair chips, burns and scratches in laminate, stone, quartz, solid surface and wooden worktops, matching the colour and pattern by hand. Nothing is taken out. Common call-outs are for knife marks and a chipped edge, on solid surface (such as Corian), granite & marble and laminate.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.
Repair or replace: which is better?
If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Never put hot pans down directly
- Keep wood oiled
- Watch the edges with heavy pans
- Do not cut directly on the worktop
Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.
Daily use can make burns and chips worse, especially near the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
How the visit works
There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours, depending on the damage, including clearing up.
- First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
- We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
- We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
- The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
- The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know about parking or access
- Point us to the nearest place to park

Related advice
Can I fix it myself?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
When to call us in Aberdeen
Kitchen worktops have a hard life. Hot pans scorch, knives leave scratches, and heavy pans chip the edges.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- A damaged sink edge
- Chipped corners
- A chipped quartz edge
- Knife marks
What your quote should include
- What happens if they find more damage
- How the colour is matched
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
Honest limits
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- A top that moves on its units
- Discolouration deep in quartz
- Cracks right through stone that has moved
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

For landlords and businesses
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Aberdeen as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.
