How we handle worktop repair in Beedon

Pan burns, chipped edges and knife scratches are the most common worktop repairs. All are repaired in place. We work on laminate, solid surface (such as Corian) and solid wood, and people most frequently call us about a chipped edge and chips in quartz or granite.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Beedon: your questions answered

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Do you come to Beedon?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Beedon from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand.

Do I need to clear the kitchen?

Only around the repair. The rest of the kitchen stays usable.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A photo taken from further back

Most clients in Beedon get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

What your worktop is made of matters

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. A repair leaves the worktop in place. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why us?

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Colour-matched on site
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • No need to remove anything

Landlords, agents and businesses in Beedon

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Open a window if you can

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Do not let water sit on joints
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Never put hot pans down directly

Always use a trivet and chopping board, wipe up spills promptly, and keep wooden tops oiled.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.
