About our worktop repair in Biddenden

We repair worktops in place. Most jobs take a few hours, and the worktop can be used again soon after. We regularly repair solid wood, quartz and solid surface (such as Corian), and common reasons people get in touch are cuts and scratches in the surface and burns from hot pans.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Different materials, different repairs

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • A top that moves on its units
  • Discolouration deep in quartz

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Biddenden

  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble

How to care for the repair

Aftercare is simple:

  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Oil wooden tops regularly

Keep joints and the sink edge dry, especially on laminate and wood.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. Repairing it early stops that.

Questions from Biddenden

Can you match granite flecks?

Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, so the repair blends into the surface.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Do I need to clear the kitchen?

Just clear the area around the damage. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. A repair takes a few hours. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a few hours.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Biddenden. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • One picture of the whole worktop
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire worktop, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
