Before and after: damaged granite tiles repaired in place

How the visit works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, including clearing up.

  1. We assess the damage and the worktop material.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let us know about parking or access

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire worktop, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Repairing versus replacing in Braemar

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair takes a few hours and leaves everything in place. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Failed support under the worktop

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate

Landlords, agents and businesses in Braemar

If you manage property in Braemar, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Braemar as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, with burns and dents put right.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches
  • Don’t leave spills to soak in
  • Dry around the sink and joints

Keep joints and the sink edge dry, particularly with laminate and timber.

Don’t leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.
