Worktop repair in Christmas Pie

Different materials, different repairs

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so marks can frequently be sanded and refinished.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

About our worktop repair in Christmas Pie

Laminate, quartz, granite, solid surface and wooden worktops can all be repaired, matching the colour and pattern by hand. The worktop stays in place. We work on solid surface (such as Corian), laminate and quartz, and common reasons people contact us are damage to a stone worktop and burns from hot pans.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Christmas Pie and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, tidy-up included.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Christmas Pie: your questions answered

Can you match the pattern on my worktop?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand so it blends in.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. We match the colour and polish the repair.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Common problems we fix in Christmas Pie

The worst damage frequently happens in a moment: a hot pan set straight down, or a heavy pan catching the edge. Scratches build up gradually from knives and grit.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Knife marks
  • A damaged sink edge
  • Dents and gouges

Choosing a repair company

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Failed support under the worktop

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Clean spills immediately
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Our worktop repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Christmas Pie. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
