Worktop repair at your home in Clayholes

Burns from hot pans, chips on edges and scratches from knives make up most of our worktop work. We repair them all in your kitchen. We regularly repair quartz, solid surface (such as Corian) and solid wood, and common reasons people get in touch are cuts and scratches in the surface and a chipped quartz edge.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • A top that moves on its units

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble

Should you replace it?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is generally far better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Clayholes. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately whether it can be repaired.

Clayholes: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. Chips on edges and around the sink are very common repairs, matched and polished.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

How do I get a price for worktop repair in Clayholes?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your DD7 postcode.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

  • Chips on edges and corners
  • A heat mark or burn
  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Gouges in the surface

  • Whether a trained technician does the job

10 questions to ask before you book

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repairs by material

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.

Quartz

Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.
