Questions from Cooksland

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you cover Cooksland?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Cooksland and the rest of Cornwall. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

How we handle worktop repair in Cooksland

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. If you are dealing with scorch marks from pans and gouges in the surface, we can help, on granite & marble, laminate and solid surface (such as Corian) alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Should you replace it?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing one section is a big job. A repair takes a few hours. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • No need to remove anything
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Read our prices page.

What a repair can’t fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz
  • Laminate

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Cooksland. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the entire worktop

Most customers in Cooksland get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

What your worktop is made of matters

Quartz

Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Do not cut directly on the worktop
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe spills right away, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

Don’t leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.

Landlord and trade work in Cooksland

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

If you manage property in Cooksland, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.
